Panzerotti – Famous Italian Recipe

italian_panzerotti

An Italian panzerotti is essentially a pizza that is folded in the middle and sealed around the edges.

It is usually filled with a variety of pizza toppings, cheese, and pizza sauce, then either deep fried or baked to perfection.  The picture you see here is a giant panzerotti that is approximately 15″ long!

Many people will grab the panzerotti and eat it like a sandwich, although in this case most of our customers will cut the giant panzerotti in two and share.

The key to a great panzerotti is #1 dough, #2 sauce and cheese, #3 deep frying.  Watch the video here to learn how to make the best panzerotti in the world!

I miss the true Italian taste that I enjoyed when living in Sault Ste. Marie. We now live in Arkansas and I attempt to duplicate the flavour, however always fall short.
Can you please share your recipe especially for panzerotti.

We live in a small town population approx. 1200. A far cry from Southern New Jersey where all the wonderful flavors of “Mom and Pop” restaurants still serve. I’ve been looking for the best homemade recipe for Panzerotti to prepare for our children so that they may grow up with the same flavors I did. Please could you share with us this recipe.

My boyfriend and I love panzerotti with bacon, pepperoni and mushroom. We live in London, Ontario, Canada. We’ve tried making it at home and it’s ok, but the crust ends up being too hard and the filling overdone. Please send your recipe. We prefer to bake it rather than fry it. Apparently we are baking it too long. Are you best to sauté the pepperoni and mushrooms or can they be put in uncooked? Thank you in advance.
